Iran will never compromise on its security: Intelligence minister

Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmaeil Khatib has extended his gratitude to the government of Albania for taking “independent actions” against the anti-Iran Mujahedin-e Khalq (MKO) terrorist organization.

“Security is not a matter that Iran would make a deal over, or compromise on,” Khatib said on Wednesday.

The intelligence minister issued a warning to all countries that harbor the “dream” of disrupting Iran’s security, especially those that played a role in the recent riots in the country.

“Countries that support terrorists must be aware that the security of Iran and the preservation of peace and calm for its people are the top priorities for the Islamic Republic,” he stated.

The comments came a week after MKO terrorists clashed with Albanian police during a court-ordered search of their camp in the city of Manez. At least two people were killed and 36 others wounded in the clashes, a security source told IRNA.

Albania’s Special Court against Crime and Corruption had authorized the search due to concerns that the MKO had been involved in terror and cyber attacks.

Albania has agreed to host the MKO after the terrorist outlet was expelled from Iraq, where they had been hosted and armed by the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.

Following the raid on their camp, Iran called on the Albanian government to correct its mistake in hosting the MKO, a group that is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Iranian civilians and officials.
