Iran drafting national document to boost hydrogen energy use

Iran’s deputy energy minister says the country’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA) is drafting a national document to streamline activities related to the expansion of hydrogen energy use in Iran.

Mahmoud Kamani said a draft of the National Hydrogen Document will be sent to the administration for approval after it is finalized by SATBA.

The official said that twenty countries have already finalized national documents on hydrogen energy because its application has become very important.

Hydrogen has various applications and its use is rapidly growing in the world, he said, adding that the source of energy has the potential to replace fossil fuels.

“Hydrogen can be a clean energy and is applicable in hydrogen turbines,” Kamani said.

He further explained that the use of hydrogen energy can compensate the shortcomings of photovoltaic systems which are unable to provide electricity at night.
