Hossein Amirabdollahian made the remarks addressing a conference in Tehran on Tuesday themed “Iran and BRICS: Prospects for Partnership and Cooperation”.
Underlining the significance of transit potentials for giving a boost to cooperation between Iran and BRICS member countries, the Iranian foreign minister said that Tehran and Beijing are cooperating on linking China to the Sea of Oman in southern Iran.
He added that Iran can also link China to Brazil and South Africa via multimodal transportation.
"We are happy that relations between Iran and BRICS member countries are in good conditions and the parties are determined to increase economic and political interactions," Amirabdollahian said.
Noting that Iran’s active presence in the area of energy would bring an added value for BRICS member states, the foreign minister stressed that the presence of some other countries such as Saudi Arabia and Iraq can also add to the value of the bloc.
BRICS represents real political and economic synergy and has the capacity to create regional and international influence, he said.
Amirabdollahian said that the growth of BRICS has added to its global credibility and influence which is largely represented in huge demands for membership by different world countries.
