Iran's Vice President Claims Foreign Powers Paid Celebrities to Tweet Against the Islamic Republic

Iran's Vice President Mohammad Mokhber made the claim on Monday that foreign powers had paid celebrities and footballers, including Lionel Messi, to tweet against the Islamic Republic in an attempt to stir up unrest in the country.
Mokhber said that the foreign powers were using social media and online networks to try to incite people in Iran against the government. He said that they had spent $400 million on managing last year's unrest in Iran.
