Massive turnout in Ecuadorian election is victory for democracy: Iran FM spox

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani says that the massive voter turnout in the 2023 presidential election in Ecuador was a victory for democracy.

In a message on Wednesday, Kanaani considered the huge turnout of the Ecuadorian people in holding free and successful presidential elections in the South American country as a sign of the success and victory of democracy.

He further extended congratulations to the people, the government, and the elected president of Ecuador on the victory.

Daniel Noboa was announced the winner of Sunday’s runoff presidential elections in Ecuador by defeating Luisa Gonzalez.

Noboa, 35, thus became the youngest president-elect in the history of Ecuador.

Ecuadorian elections had an 88.33% voter turnout.
