Ahmad Reza Heidarnia stressed that the sanctions against the Iranian petrochemical industry have been unsuccessful in bringing development projects in the related sector to a standstill.
The remarks come as Iran’s western province of Kermanshah is soon to become the country's new hub for petrochemical production.
The launching of Kermanshah Polymer Complex, Bistoon Petrochemical Complex, Urea and Ammonia Complex along with the LAB (linear alkyl benzene) project in the province is currently underway and meant to fulfill the objective.
Meanwhile, Heidarnia said on May 25 that two major petrochemical projects in the country’s Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (PSEEZ) will come on stream in the near future.
The West Ethylene Pipeline, which will transfer ethylene from Assaluyeh in the southern Iranian province of Bushehr to the petrochemical complexes in Iran’s western provinces, and the Kavian Petrochemical Complex with the annual petrochemical production capacity of 2.18 million tons are the two major projects that are expected to become operational in the PSEEZ.
