Iran’s Minister of Culture Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini is set to officially launch the 2nd International Computer Games Expo and Festival in the Iranian capital of Tehran on June 26.

The 2012 edition of the festival will be opened on Tuesday in the presence of Hosseini, Behrouz Minaei, the executive manager of Iran’s National Foundation of Computer Games as well as the members of Iran’s Council of Virtual Space and Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution, IRNA reported.

Scores of computer games designers and producers from Iran and several other countries will also attend the opening ceremony in Tehran’s Grand Prayer Grounds.

Almost a dozen international games companies along with Iranian companies will participate in the event to present their latest achievements in the field.

Index, Purplemaru, Xssoftware and Neomobile are some of the 11 computer game firms due to take part in the event.

The organizers considered the event as an opportunity to introduce Iranian culture, value and Islamic identity, and also a way to present Iranian products to international computer games designers and producers.

Tehran also hosted the first edition of the International Computer Games Expo and Festival in Milad Tower in 2011.

The 2012 edition of the event is scheduled to run until June 30.
