In a meeting with Maher al-Taher, member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, in Tehran, Saeed Jalili noted that Palestine belongs to the entire Islamic world and Iran supports not only the [anti-Zionist] resistance by Palestinians, but also by all other freedom-seekers across the world.
Jalili said the ongoing wave of the Islamic Awakening in regional countries has a huge capacity, adding that “Under these conditions, the dominant discourse should focus on the freedom and support of Palestine.”
“The popular movement and resistance of [the people of] Palestine should take advantage of this opportunity in order to inspire all Muslims and freedom-seekers around the world…. [Therefore,] Iran supports every Palestinian initiative aimed at [bolstering anti-Zionist] resistance,” he stated.
Al-Taher, for his part, presented a report on the developments in Palestine and praised the Islamic Republic’s role in supporting Palestine.
The Palestinian official also expressed hope that the Islamic Awakening among Arab countries will lead to the liberation of Palestine and the end of the Zionist regime’s occupationist policies.
Al-Taher also pointed to the important role of Syria in supporting the Palestinian resistance while expressing concern about the US and Israeli plots against Damascus.
Before conferring with Jalili, Al-Taher met with Iran's Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani.
During the meeting Larijani noted that although the enemies have concerted their efforts to put obstacles in the way of the Muslim nations, as the Arab revolutions are making headway towards ultimate victory.
He added that Israel is experiencing unprecedented isolation against the backdrop of the growing tide of Islamic Awakening in the Arab world.
