Turkey’s Energy Minister Taner Yildiz says his country will resume gas imports from Iran as of Tuesday through the pipeline which was damaged in an explosion last week.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, the Turkish minister said the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists have carried out similar attacks on the pipeline from time to time, but they will not achieve their goals through such acts of sabotage.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by much of the international community, including Turkey, Iran, the European Union, and the United States.

The Turkish minister stated that repairs on the pipeline are nearly finished and the Iranian gas flow to Turkey will start on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, June 27, a section of a pipeline carrying natural gas from Iran to Turkey exploded in the border province of Agri in eastern Turkey, halting the operation of the pipeline.

The blast occurred between the villages of Hidirli and Kalender after which officials from the state-owned Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) rushed to the scene of the incident.

About 27-million cubic meters of natural gas is supplied to Turkey through the pipeline on a daily basis.
