“The joint heliborne maneuver will be staged in Isfahan in the presence of the IRGC and Army units,” Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told IRNA on Friday.
He added that Iran's Armed Forces and the IRGC will carry out two or three joint military maneuvers in the southeastern parts of the country in the second half of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 20, 2012).
Last week, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps staged a three-day missile drill codenamed the Great Prophet 7 in the central Iranian province of Semnan.
The indigenous Iranian missiles, including Shahab (Meteor) 1, 2, 3, Khalij Fars (Persian Gulf), Tondar (Lightning), Fateh (Victor) and Zelzal (Quake) as well as Qiam (Uprising) were fired at mock targets during the drill. The IRGC’s fighter jets and drones also hit mock targets successfully.
Over the recent years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
