Despite the pressures that the United States has imposed on countries that have attempted to maintain economic ties with Iran, official figures suggest that bilateral trade between Iran and the United States during the May has exceeded $44 million.

In its latest report, the US Bureau of Statistics announced that during May 2012 the US exported $44.5 million worth of exports to Iran, an increase of $700,000 over April’s $43.8 million in Iran-bound US exports.

On the other side of the equation, in both May and April, Iran exported about $100 thousand in products to the US. During the first three months of 2012, however, Iran hadn’t exported anything to the US whatsoever.

According to the US Bureau of Statistics, US-Iran trade thus far in May 2012 has resulted in a $44.4 million US trade surplus.

All in all, during the first five months of the 2012, trade between Iran and the US totaled $129.5 million, of which the US was responsible for $129.3 million and Iran $200 thousand.
