Berlin is holding Iran’s Film Week, which focuses on the role of women in the modern Iranian society, in a bid to introduce Persian cinema to people in Germany.

Five Iranian films have been scheduled to be screened at the Colosseum cinema in the German capital during the Iranian Film Week that kicked off on Sunday.
The event, organized by Iran’s cultural office in Berlin and Visual Media Institute, was opened with Iranian filmmaker Bahram Tavakkoli’s latest production Here without Me. Tavakkoli and the movie’s stage and costume designer, Atousa Ghalamfarsaie, attended the opening ceremony and answered the audience’s questions at a discussion session held after the screening of the movie.
The event will also screen Ali Rafie’s Agha Yousef , Mani Haghighi’s Kan’an, and Ibrahim Hatamikia’s The Invitation.

Rambod Javan’s No Men Allowed is scheduled to be presented on the final day of the week-long event.

Several Iranian actors and producers are also expected to attend the discussion sessions due on the sideline of the screening program.

The Iranian Film Week will run until July 19, 2012.
