He made the remarks in a joint press conference after tripartite talks attended by Salehi and his Egyptian counterpart Mohammed Kamel Amr as well as Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu held in Cairo on Monday evening.
He said Iran believes that the Syrian crisis will be settled only through a thoroughly Syrian solution, and added that the present crisis in Syria demands patience and vigilance in order to find a logical and sensible solution.
During the tripartite talks, Salehi offered Iran's proposed roadmap for Syria including cessation of clashes and violence simultaneously by the belligerent parties in Syria, peaceful settlement of crisis without foreign intervention, and halting any kind of financial, military and educational support for Syrian dissidents.
Asked about Iran's positions on Bahrain and Syria developments, Salehi said Tehran has always underscored the need to meet public demands.
Salehi said that the talks will continue on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York.
According to the Egyptian foreign minister in the joint press conference, the Saudi Arabian envoy did not participate in the talks for certain reasons.
The initiative for forming the quadrilateral contact group on Syria was put forward by Egypt's first post-revolution President Mohammad Mursi at a recent emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.
