Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Central Africa's Foreign Minister Antoine Gambi underlined the necessity for the development of bilateral relations and exchange of experience between the two countries.

"Certainly, consolidation of (mutual) cooperation serves the interests of both countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide the people of Central Africa with its experiences in different fields," Ahmadinejad said during the meeting in Tehran on Monday.

He said that reciprocal visits between the two countries' officials can be fruitful and effective in the further expansion of the bilateral relations.

Gambi, for his part, called for Iran's support and using the country's experiences in different fields.

President Ahmadinejad's administration has striven hard to maximize relations with the African continent.

Iran is also an observing member of the AU and has shown an active presence in previous AU summit meetings.

The country is considered as one of the AU's strategic partners along with India, Japan, China, several South American states and Turkey, while Tehran is also believed to be prioritizing promotion of its economic and political ties with the African states.
