Iran’s proposal was offered by the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai at the 94th Session of the Executive Council of the United Nations' World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), held in the Mexican city of Campeche on October 24 and 25, 2012.
“The proposal was approved by all tourism ministers from NAM member states who participated in the 2012 UNWTO session, said deputy head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) for Tourism Affairs Manouchehr Jahanian.
He also met tourism ministers of Azerbaijan, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Tanzania and China to establish further cooperation in tourism with these countries, IRNA reports.
A number of representatives from over 50 countries took part in this year’s UNWTO summit and analyzed the current state of tourism and annual programs on the issue.
Increasing their global visitors and job creation are among the members’ objectives.
