Deputy Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says Iranian forces will never attack any aircraft beyond international borders.

“We are exactly aware of all international laws on how to deal with foreign aircraft and aggression and observe them,” Brigadier General Hossein Salami told reporters on Sunday referring to the recent US claims about Iranian warplanes firing at a US drone last week.

Salami noted that the drone had definitely been within the Iranian borders, “otherwise it would have not been fired at.”

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Friday that the Iranian military has repelled an unidentified aircraft that had entered the country’s airspace “above the territorial waters of the Islamic Republic in the Persian Gulf.”

The comments came a day after the Pentagon claimed that two Iranian warplanes fired at a US drone as it conducted a routine, but classified, surveillance mission over the Persian Gulf about 16 nautical miles off the Iranian coast.
