The pianists performed a classic masterpiece titled The Persian Hours (Les heures persanes) at Tehran’s Rudaki Hall on February 14, 2013.
Written and orchestrated by the French composer Charles Louis Eugène Koechlin in 1921, the work was performed for the first time in 1986.
Koechlin, who never traveled to Iran, created The Persian Hours under the influence of Pierre Loti’s expedition diary written in 1906.
Van Raat also performed several works created by the Iranian composer Ali Reza Mashayekhi and German composer Johann Sebastian Bach.
Some 57 ensembles from over 70 submitted groups were selected to participate in this year’s Fajr International Music Festival.
The event is being presented at six music halls in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
Iran's Fajr International Music Festival is part of the country's cultural programs held every year to commemorate the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
The 28th Fajr International Music Festival kicked off on February 13 and will run until February 19, 2013.
