Head of Algerian National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee Bel-Qassem Bel-Abbas in a meeting with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said that his country's leaders are eager to find different ways to further develop relations with Tehran.

"Expansion of the dimensions of friendly cooperation with Iran is one of the serious concerns of the Algerian leaders and political parties," Bel-Abbas said in Tehran on Wednesday.

Bel-Abbas said that Tehran and Algiers have very close viewpoints over many international issues, adding, "Flickering the flames of disputes within the Islamic world is a very dangerous thing to do, as Islamic unity and solidarity is a dire need today."

He emphasized the need for the expansion of commercial ties and having broad economic relations between the two countries, adding, "The potentials of the Iranian and the Algerian parliaments for boosting the bilateral economic ties and taking long strides in the two countries" economic relations must be used."

In relevant remarks this September, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, in a meeting with Speaker of Algeria's National Assembly Abdul Qadir bin Saleh, said that the African state has been a good partner for Iran since the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

As regards bilateral relations, the Leader said, "There are great capacities for the expansion of economic, political and cultural ties between Iran and Algeria which must be activated."
