Jalili made the remarks in a meeting with Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzouk, the deputy chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau, in Tehran late on Sunday, ISNA reported.
“Resistance for the freedom of Palestine is the best axis for the unity of the world of Islam, and this strategy can prevent conflicts in the Muslim world,” Jalili said.
Marzouk stressed the importance of Iran’s role in solving the conflicts in the Islamic world, and presented a report regarding the latest developments in Palestine and the region to Jalili.
The Hamas official also made comments about the unrest in Syria, saying there is no military solution for the conflict.
Earlier in the day, Marzouk met with Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.
At the meeting, the Iranian foreign minister reiterated Tehran's support for the Palestinian nation and their efforts to liberate the occupied Palestinian territories.
The senior Palestinian official, for his part, pointed to Tehran’s efforts to end Syria unrest, and criticized attempts by certain countries to obstruct national dialogue between the Syrian government and opposition groups.
He also stressed the need for convergence among major regional countries to resolve regional issues, including Syria unrest, without foreign meddling.
