The Iranian president will leave Tehran for Bishkek on Thursday to participate in the two-day event.
The SCO summit will kick off in the Kyrgyz capital on September 13, bringing together heads of member and observer states.
In addition to delivering a speech at the summit, Rouhani will hold talks with a number of the participants on the sidelines of the event.
Rouhani said on Tuesday that his meetings with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping during his stay in Bishkek were of “special importance.”
The Iranian president said Tehran attaches particular significance to its relations with Russia as the two countries share common views on many issues and cooperate in different fields.
“This (Iranian) administration attempts to boost ties with Russia and the first step will be taken during this trip,” Rouhani said.
Rouhani also stressed the importance of relations between Iran and China.
Iran, along with Afghanistan, India, Mongolia, and Pakistan, has an observer status in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The SCO is an intergovernmental organization that was founded in 2001 in Shanghai by the leaders of China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
