Responding to an FNA question about the visit of IAEA inspectors, Salehi said that the IAEA’s inspection of Gachin mine would take place soon, but did not mention an exact date for the visit.
Salehi further pointed to AEOI’s activities in medical field, including radiomedicine, and Arak heavy water facility where different isotopes can be produced, and said, “We plan to study production of the isotopes needed by medical centers for patients with heart and brain problems and other didseases in Arak.”
He noted that the AEOI can produce 15 radiomedicines, and said, “We should hold different training workshops on the use of radiomedicines.”
Inspectors of the IAEA visited Arak heavy water facilities earlier this month.
The inspection took place in line with a joint agreement signed on November 11 by Head of the AEOI Ali Akbar Salehi and the IAEA Director-General Yukiya Amano on bilateral cooperation.
The agreement allows the IAEA inspectors to voluntarily visit Arak heavy water plant in central Iran and Gachin mine in Bandar Abbas.
