Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in a meeting in Istanbul on Saturday, exchanged views on the latest regional developments, and discussed ways to expand bilateral relations.

Speaking at the meeting, Zarif said that the main purpose for his visit to Turkey is to strengthen bilateral ties, and added, "We have good relations with Turkey which needs to be expanded."

Upon his arrival in Istanbul, Zarif told reporters that dangers of terrorism, extremism, Takfiri groups, and foreign intervention in the region have jeopardized the international peace and security.

Zarif said extremism, Takfiri groups, and foreign intervention are dangerous not only for Iran and Turkey, but for the entire regional countries.

Iran and Turkey have increased their cooperation in various fields of economy, security, trade, education, energy and culture in recent years.

The two sides have exchanged several politico-economic delegations during the last few months.
