“The glorious and meaningful participation of the people in the rallies (marking the anniversarry of the victory of the Islamic Revolution countrywide) signified the positive and promosing atmosphere created in the country which heralds national unity and integrity,” Rouhani said at a cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday.
Tens of millions of Iranians in Tehran and other cities throughout the country poured to the streets on Tuesday to show their unconditional support for the Islamic Republic through staging massive rallies on February 11th.
Huge masses of people from all walks of life converged on streets and squares all over the country to express their support for the cause and ideals of the Islamic Revolution.
Elsewhere, Rouhani referred to the talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) to settle their differences over Tehran’s nuclear program, and said the negotiations are meant to safeguard the national rights and interests.
He stressed that Iran has gained great achievements in the first stage of its talks with the world powers, and said, “These great achievements have been made under the guidelines of the Supreme leader and government policies, while all the values of the Iranian society and the country’s nuclear rights have been safeguarded and the Zionists’ wrath is indicative this success."
On November 24, Iran and the world powers, including the US, sealed a six-month Joint Plan of Action to lay the groundwork for the full resolution of the West’s decade-old dispute with Iran over its nuclear energy program. In exchange for Tehran’s confidence-building bid to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities, the Sextet of world powers agreed to lift some of the existing sanctions against Tehran and continue talks with the country to settle all problems between the two sides.
