"As for the reports that the United States is allegedly going to pile more pressure on Damascus, if political pressure is what they mean, then we’ve long been telling the US to work directly with Syrian authorities," Lavrov said on the heels of Monday talks with his Eritrea counterpart, Osman Saleh, Voice of Russia reported.
"That’s what I’ve been telling (US Secretary of State) John Kerry every time he has pushed for sanctions against the regime – that he must act reasonably," the Russian foreign policy vet added.
Lavrov told reporters that Moscow holds daily consultations with Damascus. He also cited statistics that implicated terrorist and extremist forces on the Syrian soil in the majority of problems that feed the crisis.
