Iran is to begin producing isotope oxygen 18 at Arak research reactor as of today, said Ali-Akbar Salehi, head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI).

Salehi made the remarks in a meeting of officials and experts of AEOI with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Wednesday on the occasion of National Day of Nuclear Technology.

 

Salehi briefed the Supreme Leader on AEOI plans and the countryˈs nuclear achievements.

 

The main and most strategic duty of the AEOI is to meet energy needs of the country including those of the health, industry and agriculture sectors.

 

Iranˈs nuclear chief also noted that completion of fuel cycle was a brilliant point in the performance of the AEOI in the past few years.

 

Salehi said that another measure taken by AEOI was pursuing plans to identify new resources for providing uranium. He also said that Iran has plans to build new nuclear power plants.
