Iranian Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Mahmoud Goudarzi and the Philippines' Sports Commission Chair Ricardo Garcia, in a meeting here on Saturday, explored new avenues for the promotion of bilateral sports ties.

In the meeting, Goudarzi and Garcia inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pave the ground for enhancement of Tehran-Manila Sports cooperation.

Bilateral relations between the Philippines and Iran started on August 16, 1974. In 2008, Iran invested $125mln in the Philippines' petrochemical market.

Both countries are eyeing to increase cooperation in areas of tourism, food production and industries, energy, construction, technology, science, sports and culture
