Secretary of Iran’s Human Rights Council Mohammad Javad Larijani underscored that the Muslim states should strongly defend the Palestinian nation to hit a heavy blow to the Zionist regime.

"Based on the international laws, countries are entitled to defend oppressed people," Larijani told reporters on the sidelines of a forum on 'Islamic Human Rights and Human Dignity' in Tehran on Tuesday.

"Today the powerful countries in the Muslim world can reopen Gaza's ports and airport and if Israel moves to stand against them, it should be given a strong slap across the face," he added.

Larijani also stressed the necessity for reviewing human rights documents and principles to protect the rights of the world people, specially the Muslims, and welcomed the formation of a fact-finding committee at the UN Human Rights Council to pursue the crimes committed by the Israeli forces against the innocent Palestinians.

Iran's human rights headquarters in a statement on Monday underlined the necessity for reviewing the international human rights organizations and documents after the current conventions failed in prosecuting or stopping Israel's continued violation of the Palestinians' human rights in Gaza.

"The current conditions and specially, the crimes being committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza and the western governments' outrageous defense of Israel's actions and more blatantly, their military support for the aggressor have clarified the necessity for a deep and serious review of human rights documents and organizations more than ever," the statement said.

It voiced regret that today the UN documents and mechanisms have been mocked at by the US and certain western governments and become an instrument to justify aggression and imposition.

The statement added that the crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the oppressed and defenseless Palestinian people are a reflection of the paradoxical face of those who claim to be supporting the human rights.

Israel has been pounding the blockaded Gaza for 29 consecutive days, killing at least 1,865 people and injuring more than 10,000 others.

In relevant remarks in July, Commander of Iran's Basij (volunteer) Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi underlined that the massacre of the Palestinian people in Gaza by the US-supported Israeli regime unveiled the untruthful nature of the US claims about its support for human rights.

"The bloody Ramadan in Gaza unveiled the US human rights," Naqdi said, addressing a gathering in the Northern province of Golestan.

"The US regime which is all made of betrayal and brutality has approved $225mln (in budget) for supporting the ominous Zionist regime's killing of the (Palestinian) children and women," he added.
