Former Iranian Ambassador to New Zealand Seyed Majid Tafreshi Khameneh expressed the hope that the nuclear talks between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (the US, Russia, China, Britain and France plus Germany) would yield results, adding that the only rational choice left for the West is the removal of all sanctions against Iran.

"Today, it has been proved to all world people that the Islamic Iran is not after the acquisition and production of nuclear weapons," Tafreshi Khameneh told FNA on Sunday.

Stressing that the reports by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) all show the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program, he said, "We also very clearly had such other options as withdrawal from the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and producing nuclear weapons, but we have never paid attention to these options."

Tafreshi Khameneh referred to the nuclear talks underway between Iran and the six world powers in Vienna, and said that removal of all sanctions and showing good will in return for Iran's good will and confidence-building measures is the only wise outcome of the talks.

Earlier this month, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani also underscored that no nuclear agreement would be made with the world powers without the removal of all sanctions against Iran.

"Naturally, sanctions are not ineffective and they pressure the Iranian people but they don’t have any impacts on Iran's peaceful and developed nuclear industry," Shamkhani said.

"The unilateral and UN Security Council sanctions don’t have any legal basis and they should certainly be removed, otherwise, any negotiation which doesn’t lead to this end will be void and fruitless and cannot meet our country's demands," he added.

The 10th and last round of negotiations between Iran and the six world powers is now underway in Vienna as the seven nations have only one day to work on a final deal.

Iran and the six major world powers had held 8 rounds of nuclear negotiations after inking an interim agreement in Geneva on November 24, 2013, and had less than three weeks time to strike a final deal before the November 24 deadline.

The 9th round of talks between Iran and the G5+1 included two days of trilateral talks among Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, US Secretary of State John Kerry and EU's Chief negotiator Catherine Ashton as well as an hour-long multilateral meeting between the Iranian and G5+1 top negotiators in the Omani capital on November 11 without any tangible results.

In July, Tehran and the six countries agreed to extend negotiations until November 24 after they failed to reach an agreement on a number of key issues.
