Prolific thespians shortlisted for Fajr Film Festival

The most prolific thespians of the 37th Fajr Film Festival were shortlisted for the event.

The New Look section of Fajr Film Festival announced ten directorial debut movies with Hediyeh Tehrani, Linda Kiani and Babak Hamidian being named among the most prolific actors of the event, ifilmtv.com reported.

Hediyeh Tehrani, whose movie career spans about 25 years, is to undertake an active role in the festival with Arash Lahouti’s directorial debut ‘Orange Days’ and stage director Homayoun Ghanizadeh’s ‘The Clown’.

The 38-year-old Linda Kiani, besides fellow busy Tehrani ladies, has two movies set to premiere in the 2019 Fajr gala, featuring in ‘Watching This Film is a Crime’ by Reza Zehtabchi as well as ‘Polo Coat’ — a comedy by Mehdi Alimirzaei.

The ‘Damascus Time’ star Hamidian has certainly kept himself busy since he stepped down from his role in ‘Underwater Cypress’ in 2017.

For the 37th Fajr screening, Hamidian landed a recurring role on ‘Reverse’ by first-time actor/director Poulad Kimiaee and Ghanizadeh’s screen debut ‘The Clown’.

Hamidian also appeared to be the most prolific actor of the previous round of the festival by having four films in competition, including ‘Damascus Time’, ‘Underwater Cypress’, ‘Confiscation’ and ‘Nostalgia Celebration’.

Fajr Film Festival is Iran’s annual film festival held every February on the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution by Farabi Cinema Foundation, under the auspices of Iran’s Culture Ministry. Established in 1982, the festival displays creative achievements by highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films. The 37th Fajr Film Festival will take place in Tehran from February 1 to 11.
