He noted that in different countries of the world, people prefer not to use their personal cars, except for weekends or holidays. They uses public transportation.
According to the vice president, anywhere in the world gasoline is not cheaper than Iran, and even in a country like Saudi Arabia, the price of gasoline is 5 times higher than that in Iran.
The official expressed that because of the low gasoline price, some people use personal car for a short distance of 500 meters.
He said that in most countries of the world car is cheap, but its maintenance is expensive, but in Iran the car is expensive and maintenance is very cheap.
Iran’s Department of Environment chief pointed to the per capita of high waste production in the country, adding that in Iran, with a GDP per capita of $5,000, is producing waste equal to a country with a GDP per capita of $50,000 which is unjustifiable.
He said the waste management should be taught, saying there are still shortcomings and failures in waste incineration and management of waste disposal.
Iran’s Department of Environment chief Isa Kalantari said energy consumption volume of Iran is high and the Iranians are consuming energy equivalent to China with a population of 1.4 billion.
