32nd Tehran Intl. Book Fair kicks off

The 32nd edition of Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) has kicked off at the center of Tehran with the presence of Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Chinese Minister of Culture as well as the cultural representatives of this country.

Cultural Affairs Deputy of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohsen Javadi said on Monday that 2,400 domestic publishers with 3,000 book titles and about 800 foreign publishers with 137,000 titles will showcase their latest publications in this edition of the fair.

He pointed to some details of this prestigious event since its beginning up to the present time and added, “strengthening industry of publishing, boosting international relations and also improving cultural diplomacy in the presence of China as the guest of honor are among the approaches taken in 32nd Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF).”

“For many years, Tehran Book Fair has provided the opportunity for the readership to buy new books and add to the new sources of Iranian libraries,” Mohsen Javadi said.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Deputy Culture Minister referred to strengthening international relations and cultural diplomacy which is on the agenda of the fair: “The participation of China as the guest of honor in this year's event proves that culture can confront and nullify imposed sanctions.

He announced that the Iranian publishers will display 300000 titles of books in the fair and foreign publishers will Showcase 140000 titles this year.


The 32nd Tehran International Book Fair will be held at Tehran's Mosalla from April 24 to May 4.
