Iran FM sees time, quality as important elements of agreement

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has said that Tehran sees quality of agreement alongside the element of time.

If attention is paid today to Iran’s legitimate rights, the agreement could be achieved in Vienna, Amirabdollahian noted in a meeting with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, according to a report of Iranian Foreign Ministry’s public relations office.

Tehran expects Berlin to play an effective role in providing legitimate rights of Iran which has faced losses after US unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal, aka Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Amirabdollahian said.

The foreign minister went on to say that Iran is ready to enhance technical, scientific, cultural, political, and economic relations with Germany.

He also discussed the latest situation of talks in Vienna, Austria, between Iran and the 4+1 including Germany.

As the foreign minister underlined, Iran has been serious in achieving a good agreement since the beginning.

So, the country expects the European sides and those in the JCPOA to take Tehran’s red lines into consideration, Amirabdollahian stressed.

The foreign minister also underlined the necessity of not directing the talks to the media atmosphere.

For her part, the German foreign minister welcomed all-out relations with Iran and said her country is determined to do so.

Baerbock said the talks are at a sensitive point and the sides are needed to make all-out effort to pass this phase in the shortest time and open a new chapter.

She called for further activities to reach a good agreement in Vienna.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views about international, regional, and bilateral issues.

The 58th Munich Security Conference was slated for February 18-20 in Germany.
