Iranian, Iraqi interior ministers hold talks

The Iranian minister of interior met with his Iraqi counterpart to hold talks on facilitating the Arbaeen procession.

Ahmad Vahidi and Iraqi Minister of Interior Othman Al-Ghanmi met in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, on Thursday.

The Iranian interior minister made a visit to Iraq in order to pave the way for Iranian pilgrims who travel to the neighboring country in order to take part in the Arbaeen mourning ceremony, commemorating the 40th day after Ashura, when Imam Hussain (PBUH) and his companions were martyred in Karbala in 680 AD.

Vahidi and Iraqi authorities are scheduled to hold consultations on certain problems upon the Iranian pilgrims' arrival into Iraq.

Millions of Shia Muslims from across the world gather toghether around the holy shrine of Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala on Arbaeen Day.
