Canada's Foreign Ministry in a statement on Friday imposed sanctions on 22 Iranian individuals including judges, prison officials, policemen and politicians, and media activists.
In the meantime, Canada also imposed sanctions on 33 previous and current Russian officials and six Russian entities, accusing them of human rights violations.
Ottawa also imposed sanctions on 12 individuals and entities in Myanmar accusing them of human rights violations.
On Nov 2, 2022, Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced sanctions on a Canadian entity and several individuals over their support for terrorism.
The ministry in a statement said that it has imposed sanctions on eight individuals and one entity over their support of the Mujahedin Khalq Terrorist Organization (MKO) and encouraging terrorism and violence against the Iranian people.
It said that the blacklisted people and entities have spread wrong information against Iran and helped intensified cruel sanctions against the people of the country.
Those targeted, according to the statement, will not be granted visas to enter Iran, their assets will be frozen on Iranian soil and their bank accounts will be blocked within Iran’s banking and financial system.
