Tehran, IRNA - Iran's national field hockey team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Asian Championship for the first time.

Iran's national men field hockey team faced the rival Japan in the first match of the elimination stage in the Asian Championship in Salalah.

In the end, Iran's national hockey team was able to defeat Japan 10-1, and after 51 years and for the first time in the history of the field hockey field, Iran advanced to the quarter-finals.

The goals of our country's national team were scored by Zabihollah Rah Chamani 3 goals, Navid Taheri, Arif Hamedi and Mohammad Ali Salehipour 2 goals and Mohammad Reza Saadat scored 2 goals.

Navid Taheri was also chosen as the best player on the field and received his award from the old hands, the head of indoor hockey in Asia.
