Nearly 493K Gazan females displaced in Gaza: UN

Nearly 493,000 Palestinian women and girls have been displaced from their homes in the Gaza Strip amid the Zionist regime’s constant bombardment of the enclave, according to the UN.

In a report released on Friday cited by the IRNA on Saturday, the UN Women’s Rapid Assessment and Humanitarian Response in the Occupied Palestinian Territory said Gazan women and girls are currently seeking refuge in overcrowded shelters that lack essential provisions such as food, water, and privacy heightening protection risks.

The UN’s humanitarian coordination office also said on Friday that around 1.4 million people have been displaced within the Gaza Strip due to the war.

Meanwhile, another 352 Palestinians were killed in a 24-hour period ending on Friday afternoon in Gaza, the office said, citing Palestinian authorities.

Israel launched the war on the besieged enclave on October 7, in response to a surprise attack by the Palestinian Hamas resistance group, dubbed Operation Al-Aqsa Storm, which itself was a response to Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

So far, at least 4,137 Palestinians, 70 percent being children and women, have been killed in Israeli air raids, which target densely-populated residential areas.
