Tehran slams Russian-Arab Forum statement on trio Islands

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kan'ani rejected and condemned the inclusion of some baseless content in the 6th Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum statement regarding Iran’s trio islands.

Reacting to the 6th Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum statement held on Wednesday in Morroco, regarding Iran’s trio islands, Nasser Kan'ani denounced the contents of this statement, stating that any claims over three Persian Gulf islands are baseless and null and void (not legally vaild).

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman underlined that Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb are integral and eternal parts of Iranian territory.

He added that Iran does not negotiate the issue of its territorial integrity and sovereignty over the three islands, rejecting any claims from any side in this regard, and will not deviate from its sovereignty and territorial rights by any means.

Emphasizing the policy of strengthening relations with neighbors and the need to respect the principle of good neighborliness, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Iran calls on all its northern and southern neighbors to take steps to strengthen relations while taking into account the actual and potential capacities and potentials available at the bilateral and regional levels and avoid making some rejected claims.

He further stressed that Iran will not hesitate in defending its territorial integrity.
