Martyred IRGC commander played key role in resistance: Al-Qassam

Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has condemned an Israeli attack on Iran's Consulate in Damascus, praising Major General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, an IRGC commander who was martyred in the strike, for his role in establishing the resistance front against the Zionist regime.

"We offer our condolences on the martyrdom of the great commander, martyr Mohammad Reza Zahedi (Abu Mahdi), and his comrades who were martyred yesterday in the cowardly attack by the Zionist regime on Damascus, the capital of Syria," they said in a statement on Tuesday.

General Zahedi was among the seven military advisors of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) who were martyred in the Israeli attack on Iran's Consulate in Damascus on Monday.

"While condemning the cowardly attack by the Zionist regime on Damascus yesterday, we commend the significant role of martyr Mohammad Reza Zahedi in forming the resistance front against the Zionist regime over the past years," Al-Qassam said.

On Monday night, the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas condemned the Israeli aggression against Iran's diplomatic mission as a clear violation of international law, as well as the sovereignty of Syria and Iran.
