Over 250 human rights organizations urge end to Israeli arms transfers

More than 250 humanitarian and human rights organizations have stressed the need to stop arms transfers to the Israeli regime amid the ongoing Gaza War.

The joint statement released by the humanitarian groups describes itself as “an open call to all UN member states to stop fueling the crisis in Gaza and avert further humanitarian catastrophe and loss of civilian life,” Arab News has reported.

The undersigned organizations called on all states to immediately halt the transfer of weapons, parts, and ammunition to the Israeli regime.

Israel’s bombardment and siege are depriving the civilian population of the basics to survive and rendering Gaza uninhabitable, added the source.

“Today, the civilian population in Gaza faces a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented severity and scale.”

Member states have a legal responsibility to use all possible tools to leverage better protection of civilians and adherence to international humanitarian law, the statement read.

The latest fatalities have pushed the overall death toll in Gaza since October 7 to 33,545 while the number of injured has reached 76,940. Thousands of Palestinians also remain unaccounted for.

The majority of victims of the Israeli genocide are women and children.
