"His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, has joined his great and immortal martyr comrades who have led their path for nearly thirty years," Hezbollah said in a statement on Saturday.
According to reports from the resistance media, Nasrallah was assassinated in a massive Israeli attack in southern Beirut Friday evening.
The Israeli army launched a series of extensive assaults on what it described as the “central headquarters” of Hezbollah in the southern suburb of Dahieh.
The strike came amid heightened tensions between Hezbollah and the Israeli regime over the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
In its statement, Hezbollah vowed to continue its struggle against the enemy, supporting Gaza and Palestine, and defending Lebanon and its steadfast, honorable people.
The resistance movement hailed Nasrallah as a heroic, wise, insightful, and faithful leader, who succeeded the Master of Martyrs of the Islamic Resistance in 1992 and led the movement through the liberation of Lebanon in 2000 and the glorious victory in 2006 and all the battles of honor and sacrifice in support of Palestine, Gaza, and the oppressed Palestinian people.
Israeli regime sources said as many as a dozen Israeli fighter jets dropped 2,000-pound American bunker-buster bombs in the Friday attacks.
In the aftermath of the airstrike, Lebanon's Ministry of Health reported that the bodies of 6 martyrs and 91 injured individuals were pulled from the rubble of the destroyed buildings.
Hezbollah has launched multiple rocket attacks targeting Israeli military positions and settlements in northern occupied Palestine since Friday night.
