“The Iranian nation stands firm against an imposed war, just as it will stand firm against imposed peace. This nation will not give in to anyone when faced with imposition,” the Leader said on Wednesday in a televised message to the Iranian people.
He issued the message after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iran over its nuclear and missile programs, and said that Iran should “surrender unconditionally.” Washington, at the same time, has made some moves indicating that it may join the ongoing Israeli aggression against Iran.
“Wise individuals who know Iran as well as its people and history will never speak to this nation with the language of threat, because the Iranian nation will never surrender,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, emphasizing that the Iranian people are not afraid of threats.
The Leader also dismissed Trump’s statement calling on Iran to surrender, describing it as unreasonable.
“Telling the Iranian people to surrender is not a reasonable statement, and wise individuals who are familiar with the Iranian nation and its history will never utter such words, because the Iranian nation does not surrender and will never yield to anyone's aggression,” he said.
Ayatollah Khamenei also warned the United States against military involvement in the ongoing Israeli aggression on Iran, saying that Washington will face serious harm.
“The Americans, and those who are familiar with policies of this region, know that the U.S. intervening in this issue will be to its detriment one hundred percent and it will face a blow that is far more damaging to [the U.S.] than to Iran,” he noted.
The United States’ military intervention will definitely bring it “irreparable harm,” he emphasized.
The Leader also referred to Israel’s aggression against Iran, saying that it took place at the time when Iranian officials were engaged in indirect negotiations with the U.S. over Iran's nuclear program, and there was no sign of a military and hard move on part of Iran.
He said it was suspected from the beginning that the U.S. was involved in “this malicious action by the Zionist regime,” adding that the likelihood of the involvement is growing following recent statements made by American officials.
Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized that Israel made a big mistake and committed a big crime by launching attacks on Iran, noting that the regime is receiving a harsh punishment from the Iranian people and Armed Forces, which has weakened it.
“The Zionist enemy should be punished and is being punished. The punishment, which was given and is being given to this malicious enemy by the Iranian people and Armed Forces, is a harsh punishment,” the Leader said, adding that the Iranian Armed Forces and people “have plans for future as well.”
The Leader said that the possible military involvement of the U.S. in the Israeli aggression shows the weakness of the regime.
Ayatollah Khamenei also praised the Iranian people for their timely, courageous, and dignified behavior in the face of the Israeli aggression, calling on them to remain strong.
He also hailed Iranian news anchor, Sahar Emami, who was on air when an Israeli strike hit the building of the national television on Monday, but she shortly came back live and resumed the broadcast.
