Hikmat Hajiyev, foreign policy advisor to Azerbaijan’s president, has denounced the last month Israeli aggression against Iran.

Hajiyev held a phone conversation with the deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council for foreign policy affairs on Sunday.

The advisor to President Ilham Aliyev denounced Israel’s war of aggression against Iran, which left hundreds of people dead, including senior commanders and scientists. He expressed condolences over the deaths.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to boosting mutual ties and expediting agreements previously made between their presidents.

Hajiyev’s phone talk follows comments by Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan, George Dick, who claimed in a recent press conference in Baku that Iran was weakened after the Israeli war. Dick also alleged that the world, including the Middle East and South Caucasus, has become safer now.

The Iranian embassy in Baku strongly condemned the Israeli envoy’s remarks, saying that the regime is the root cause of all problems in West Asia due to its acts of aggression and expansionist policies.

“Israel is the greatest threat to global peace and the lack of serious international action to contain this rogue entity will lead to the spread of insecurity throughout the world,” Behnam Malekpour, press secretary of the Iranian embassy, said on Saturday.

Israel launched its war of aggression on Iran on June 13, prompting a strong military response from the Islamic Republic.
