In an interview with the UK-based Sky News network on Tuesday, Eslami said that the successive American governments have committed many acts of injustice and aggressions against the Iranian nation since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution.
Referring to the recent unprovoked Washington-backed Israeli war on Iran, he said the US as an “aggressor”, that not only violated the rights of the Iranian nation but allowed the Tel Aviv regime to massacre innocent people in the region.
Responding to the question on the potential indirect talks with the US, he said there is no need to talk to the one that launched military strikes in the middle of negotiations, adding, “The US government is known for breaking promises and no one trusts them anymore.”
The AEOI chief also rejected the US narrative that it’s military action destroyed Iran’s nuclear program, saying that although the attacks had destroyed part of nuclear facilities but the country’s nuclear know-how is intact to rebuild those sites.
Addressing the enrichment issue, Eslami clarified that 60% purity level uranium does not necessarily mean weapons, but these levels are necessary for sensitive instruments, adding that safety systems for our reactors as sanction-hit Iran doesn’t get them from abroad.
Referring to Israeli strikes on peaceful nuclear facilities and assassination of scientists, he attributed the attacks to the failure of the international community to tame a regime that keeps committing crimes and genocide.
