The foreign ministers of Iran and Pakistan described Palestine as the most important issue of the Islamic world and urged Muslim countries to take immediate and effective action to end the Israeli genocide of Palestinians and to hold the perpetrators accountable.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and his Pakistani counterpart, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, held a telephone conversation on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

Both sides underlined the importance of expanding cooperation between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest, stressing the need to strengthen coordination not only bilaterally but also within international organizations in order to safeguard regional and global peace and stability.

Araghchi also thanked Pakistan for its responsible stance at the UN Security Council in opposing the misuse by three European signatories of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) dispute resolution mechanism, also known as Snapback Mechanism, to reinstate terminated UNSC resolutions.

He also emphasized that, in line with its provisions and the text of the JCPOA, UNSCR 2231 must be considered terminated on its scheduled expiry date of October 18, 2025.
