Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has congratulated Motegi Toshimitsu on his appointment as Japan’s Foreign Minister, expressing hope that Tehran-Tokyo interactions would develop based on mutual trust and understanding.

In a congratulatory post on his X account on Wednesday, Araghchi extended his best wishes to Motegi on his new role, expressing hope that during Motegi’s tenure, political, economic, and cultural interactions between Tehran and Tokyo would flourish in an atmosphere of mutual trust and understanding.

Araghchi added, “I am confident that, drawing upon your brilliant record and valuable experience, the friendly relations and long-standing cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Japan will be deepened and expanded.”

Drawing from his experience as an ambassador in Tokyo and the solid bilateral relations between the two countries, the top Iranian diplomat expressed hope that effective steps would be taken in this new period to achieve shared bilateral and international goals.
