The United States Using Drones Modeled on Iran’s “Shahed” UAVs

The United States is now operating a squadron of attack drones known as “LUCAS,” which have reportedly been built through reverse engineering based on Iran’s Shahed drones.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, the U.S. military has deployed its first attack-drone squadron in West Asia using unmanned aerial vehicles whose design and technology were directly derived from Iranian systems.

Reports indicate that the squadron operates under a special task force established several months ago by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and designated Task Force “Scorpion Attack.”

This unit utilizes unmanned systems referred to as the Low-Cost Uncrewed Attack System (LUCAS) drones.

A U.S. military official stated that the LUCAS drones were developed through reverse engineering of Iran’s Shahed UAVs.

In a press release, CENTCOM announced that the deployed LUCAS drones have long operational range and are designed for autonomous missions. They can be launched by multiple methods, including catapult systems, rocket-assisted takeoff, and mobile ground- or vehicle-based pl atforms.
