Qatar Warns: Any Action Against Iran Would Affect the Entire Region

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani criticized the absence of political solutions in the Iranian nuclear file, warning that any action taken against Tehran would have far-reaching consequences for all countries in the Middle East. He stressed that reviving negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program is an urgent necessity, as diplomatic efforts to manage the issue are currently “missing.”

According to KhabarOnline, an Iranian news agency, Al-Thani highlighted Qatar’s regional role, recalling that Doha’s ties with Hamas began around 13 years ago at the request of the United States. He emphasized that Qatar has never financed Hamas, describing the allegations to the contrary as “baseless.” According to him, this communication channel enabled the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and facilitated the release of hostages.

The Qatari prime minister condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Qatar as “unethical” and “a blatant violation of state sovereignty,” noting that the move came as a shock even to the United States, Washington being a key partner in efforts to advance a Gaza deal. He added that these attacks occurred while Qatar was actively working to persuade Hamas to accept a proposal put forward by President Trump. Al-Thani also expressed concern over the spread of “lies and distortions” aimed at damaging Doha–Washington relations.

Addressing the humanitarian situation in Gaza, he stated: “The people of Gaza do not want to leave their land, and no one has the right to force them out.” He clarified that Qatar will not fund the “reconstruction of what others have destroyed,” but will not abandon the Palestinian people. According to Al-Thani, the continued presence of Israeli forces and ongoing violations significantly raises the risk of renewed conflict.

He also criticized current policies in Israel and the Knesset’s opposition to a two-state solution, calling it a fundamental obstacle to peace. “We cannot become hostages to the agenda of the far-right or to extremist groups seeking the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, Al-Thani expressed hope that ongoing U.S. efforts could help resolve the war in Ukraine — a crisis he said has increasingly become detrimental to Europe.
