According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, According to Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, the number of incoming tourists has improved significantly, shifting from a 52 percent decline to a 10 percent increase. The minister said the recovery accelerated in recent months, particularly during October and November, when tourism indicators returned to what officials describe as “normal conditions.”
He noted that the current upward trend is continuing and argued that, given the rise in visitor numbers, the closure of travel agencies cannot be attributed solely to a lack of tourists. Any such shutdowns, he said, would likely be linked to other factors that require further examination.
The minister also addressed outbound travel trends, stating that an average of 8 to 9 million Iranians travel abroad each year. While this figure experiences fluctuations depending on economic and political conditions, he said the overall average has remained relatively stable in recent years.
He added that decisions about foreign travel are largely shaped by household income levels, with families choosing their destinations based on their financial capacity and broader economic circumstances.
The renewed growth in tourist arrivals comes after several challenging years for Iran’s tourism industry, which has been affected by economic volatility and geopolitical tensions. Observers say the return to positive figures may signal a gradual stabilization of the sector.
