Tehran Listed Among the World’s Cleanest Cities

According to the latest updates from the global Air Quality Index (AQI), Tehran ranked as the world’s third cleanest city for several hours today, recording an AQI value of 8.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, Real-time data indicate that air quality in Iran’s capital reached the “clean” category during this period, reflecting extremely low levels of airborne pollutants. Such conditions are typically recorded in smaller cities or areas with particularly favorable weather patterns.

At the time of the most recent update, Tehran continues to rank among the cleanest cities worldwide, standing eighth with an AQI value of 17. This figure still falls within the “good” air quality range, indicating healthy conditions in terms of pollutant concentration.

This shift comes despite the fact that Tehran had repeatedly appeared among the world’s ten most polluted cities in recent months, with air pollution remaining one of the capital’s most persistent environmental challenges.

Environmental experts note that such rankings are highly time-sensitive and can change rapidly depending on factors such as weather conditions, wind speed and direction, temporary reductions in urban traffic, and decreased activity from certain pollution sources.
