A Volunteer Security Force Member Killed During Unrest in Western Iran

Following a protest gathering held yesterday in the city of Kuhdasht, located in Lorestan province in western Iran, reports emerged of clashes between some participants and security forces. Local authorities say one person was killed and several others were injured during the incident.

According to Khabaronline, an Iranian news agency, Lorestan’s deputy governor for political affairs said that during the unrest, a number of security personnel were attacked, resulting in the death of a young man identified as Amirhossein Khodayari-Fard. He was described as a member of the Basij, a volunteer force active in Iran’s internal security structure. According to the official, 13 other people were injured in the clashes.

The official stressed that peaceful and lawful protests related to economic grievances are legitimate and should be heard. However, he noted that unrest, confrontations, and damage to public property fall outside the framework of civil protest.

Reports indicate that the protest began at around 3:00 p.m. yesterday in Kuhdasht. During the gathering, some protesters threw stones at security forces. The unrest continued until approximately 6:00 p.m., when the crowd dispersed and the situation subsided.

The deputy governor also stated that law enforcement forces were present with full readiness to ensure public safety and to monitor lawful gatherings. He urged citizens to remain calm and exercise restraint, warning against allowing legitimate economic demands to be overshadowed by tension or impulsive actions.

According to available information, conditions in Kuhdasht returned to normal following the end of the gathering, and the situation is reported to be under control.
